With more than 5 years of experience in counseling, John focuses on working with individuals and families to build a personal and supportive relationship to empower independent action. With a therapeutic practice emphasizing authenticity, compassion, and humor, he relies on empirically validated cognitive behavioral techniques and incorporates light existential work to help clients face their unique challenges and make meaningful, lasting changes in their lives.
John holds a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Knox College and a Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Bradley University, and is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the State of Illinois. His particular area of expertise is in working with individuals facing substance abuse and addiction issues, and his approach is also particularly effective in assisting individuals coping with anxiety and mood issues, as well as developing skills in managing anger and stress.
